Stripped Of All Pretense

And ready to trust

I had my last drink on February 28, 1984. Two days later, I entered a treatment center. When I walked in and talked to the other patients, they told me that they had recently heard a lecture from a medical doctor who had been sober more than thirty years in Alcoholics Anonymous. He had great knowledge about the disease of alcoholism and they all seemed to be impressed by his energy and his passion. His story was in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous and it was said that he had been a friend of Bill W.'s.
