I became accustomed to chaos and violence early in my life. My twin sister and I were the youngest children in a violent, alcoholic household. Weekends of drunken behavior and verbal abuse from my father made me pretty tough-skinned. I never said anything about it at school--I thought that everyone's family was like mine.
