Uneasy Alternatives

Death or sobriety--not everyone makes the same choice

Chapter four of "alcoholics Anonymous" says we are faced with a fork in the road: "To be doomed to an alcoholic death or to live on a spiritual basis are not always easy alternatives to face." This choice may seem like a no-brainer to nonalcoholics, but to legions of alcoholics, it is a difficult choice to make. Recently, we buried two members of our local group who illustrated the difficulty of this choice with more clarity than anything written.
