Washing coffee cups and ashtrays began a path to serenity

When i came into alcoholics Anonymous, my bankruptcy as a human enterprise was complete. I was depleted in all the ways the Big Book talks about--physically, morally, emotionally, financially, and spiritually. I had lost everything. I had nothing to offer. Yet, after a couple of meetings, I noticed people cleaning ashtrays, washing coffee cups, and sweeping up the meeting hall. I brightened, thinking, "This is something I can do!"
