Reflections On Freedom
A drunk looks back on the smoldering remains of the past and the firm terrain of the present
I have work to do today, reviewing my students' drafts of their American literature essays, mostly pointing out what they don't believe they already know as I marvel at their insights and expression. Toward evening, when I go for a run, I will ask for help to cleanse myself of all negativity. It's my form of meditation, and when I am done with that, I will share a meal with Susan, my spirit mate, and we will venture off to a meeting where I can pick up a new AA chip.
