My first trip through the Steps was scary. I was afraid of the unknown. I was afraid the program wouldn't work for me. I didn't have a God. Was there a God who could restore me to sanity and guide my life? My fears seemed insurmountable, but as my sponsor guided me through the Steps, my anxieties and fears melted away. I lost the obsession to drink and realized that there was a Higher Power in my life.
