I drank for twenty-two years, all the while hoping that alcohol wasn't the cause of the car wrecks, anxiety, and poor relationships. By the time I gave the booze up and surrendered to recovery, I was hoping that it was the cause, because everything else I had tried to fix my life with didn't work.
