Being single didn't mean she'd failed
Before I started to drink, through childhood, and throughout my drinking career, I was desperately--pathetically--lonely. I hated being in my skin. I believe drinking saved my life when I was younger, because I couldn't live with myself without the drink. When it turned on me later, I could barely live with myself at all.
