When I got sober, one of the first things I heard in AA was that I had stopped maturing when I started drinking. If this was true, I was a fifteen-year-old in a thirty-seven-year-old body, and it meant that, along with the other difficulties of new sobriety, I had to experience being a teenager again--but this time without alcohol.
