An AA gets out of his head and into his heart

I had my first drink when I was a senior in high school, and the course of my life changed. I was talented and had a promising future, but I felt out of place, and I didn't know how to deal with girls. But with one tumbler of rum and cola, suddenly I felt comfortable with myself and the world. Alcohol eclipsed everything else, giving me popularity, success, ease, and comfort--at least, that's what I felt at the time. It quickly became the cure for every ill in my life, and, just as quickly, my ills multiplied.
