Through the Door

And into the future

I never considered myself an alcoholic in need of help. "I can stop any time I want--I just don't want to" was my rationalization. I wasn't sure what an alcoholic was, but whatever it was, it was not me. I tried to stop drinking on my own, to prove to myself that I was not an alcoholic, but the test never lasted long. After a couple of days, or perhaps hours, I decided I had proof enough. There was really no good reason to miss a perfectly good opportunity to drink that day.
