Never a dull moment

I used to wonder how some in AA could say they were glad they are alcoholics. Alcoholism is a mental illness; I have never heard anyone say they were glad they were schizophrenic or paranoid. But, since alcoholism has led me to AA and God, and my symptoms have been relieved, what remains seems to be more a source of amusement than frustration. For me, I suspect being non-alcoholic would be rather dull.
