GOOD, BAD, or Indifferent

How "the deal" works for newcomers, old-timers, and everyone in between

I was first introduced to AA in March 1984, at the age of fifteen, after I got out of a rehab facility. The next nine months I tried to play the good AA member so I could go home. I went to meetings, I went to Big Book studies, I parroted what old-timers said, and I felt like I was succeeding at pulling the wool over everyone's eyes, that I was getting away with it.
