Study: extended family history affects alcoholism risk
Most genetic research on an individual's family history of alcoholism has studied parental alcohol use. A 2008 Brown University study shows that looking at grandparents', great-grandparents', aunts', uncles', cousins', or great aunts' or uncles', as well as parents' and siblings' alcohol abuse, is much more telling.
