The first two-and-a-half pages of our Big Book's Chapter Five, "How It Works," became part of the opening format at most meetings in Connecticut Naugatuck Valley in the early 1980s. From the start I always felt uncomfortable with this. By reading "How It Works" to the newcomer, we tell him/her that he or she must find God, and find him now!
