An Archway To Life

She feared that college would steal her sobriety, but once she found the Fellowship, she knew she was safe

I was introduced to AA at age sixteen, and somehow managed to stay sober through my senior year in high school and actually graduate on time. It was a rule in my household that we attend at least two years of a community college before transferring to a four-year institution. At the time, it seemed like some kind of punishment. All I wanted to do was get away and live on my own. Looking back I was lucky my parents had such a rule. I was able to stay in the area where I got sober, and establish a firm foundation before moving and becoming immersed in a college setting.
