The date written (in pencil) inside the front cover of my Big Book is 1982. Apparently, I had a good idea how "erasable" my resolve was going to be when it came to this sobriety business. I was dying of alcoholism and I knew it. Admitting my powerlessness was never the issue; it was accepting it that nearly killed me.
