Why nonalcoholic trustees?

Nonalcoholic trustees make up seven of the 20 trustees currently serving on the General Service Board. Since they do not need to maintain anonymity, they are available to appear in public on behalf of AA. The chair of the General Service Board serves for no more than four consecutive years.
