"Only" is key
TRADITION Three states that the "only" requirement for membership is a desire to stop drinking. It seems that lots of people want to make it a requirement 1) that you declare yourself to be an alcoholic and 2) that alcohol be your primary addition. I don't find support for these ideas in the Big Book, "Twelve and Twelve," or Bill's writings on the subject. This is my view of what the word "only" means in this Tradition.
