A difficult life in early sobriety has a newcomer doubting her recovery

I am 27 years sober, and it has been quite a ride. I started drinking heavily at age 15 when my alcoholic dad and overeating mother divorced. It affected me severely---I went from As and Bs to Cs and Ds between the 10th and 11th grades. It was the beginning of a downward spiral that ended in total chaos. I was living 3,000 miles away from my home and was getting evicted from a roach motel with my alcoholic and heroin-addicted partner. It only took six years. At 22 years old, I was done. I never wanted to get sober; I just wanted to die.
