Alcoholism in relation to drug use examined
According to the National Epidemiologic Survey on Alcohol and Related Conditions (NESARC), one of the largest surveys of its kind ever performed, 8.5 percent of adults in the United States met the criteria for alcoholism, whereas 2 percent met the criteria for drug addiction and 1.1 percent met the criteria for both.
