A sponsor thinks he can't help a troubled member, but decides to try

POLYSTER can set his skin afire. Voices assault him. He bangs his head against the walls to silence them. The voices retaliate; inflict pain internally and externally. The antipsychotic medication he's on has turned him into a type 2 diabetic. He's excruciatingly lonely; constantly marginalized. People are reflexively friendly toward him--but rarely extend themselves beyond a handshake and a smile. Seldom, if ever, do they invite him out to coffee or over for a meal.
