One day, I received a phone call from a local town official. Her father was seriously ill and she contacted me because she knew that I was an alcoholic in recovery. She asked if I could obtain a 30-year medallion and visit her father in the nursing home to present it to him. I had never met the woman's father, but I told her I would be happy to do so.
