SPLINTER GROUPS

THE way I see it, Tradition Ten follows logically from Tradition Five. Since our primary purpose as a group is to carry the message of AA to the alcoholic who still suffer, that doesn't leave much room for outside issues. No mention is made of "secondary purposes." Since no one can give what he or she doesn't have, then Tradition Five implies that my sobriety is involved here. So I, as a member of a group, have as my primary purpose to get and stay sober and to carry the message of AA to other alcoholics who still suffer.
