A Mother and Her Son

After getting sober herself, she learnt that she was powerless over the alcoholism of others

It has been twenty years since I went to my first AA meeting, and I have not had to have a drink since. When I got sober, I was a single mother with four small children. I drank everyday, neglected and abused my children, and felt trapped in my life. I went to my first meeting because I had a moment of clarity, standing on the side of the road, handcuffed one more time: It was the drinking.
