A Grateful Ride to Louisville

A prisoner returns the love to the AA guy who helped him

Five years ago, my wife became terminally ill. She knew she was dying and wanted to be in familiar surroundings her last few months, so we had a hospital bed brought into our home. Although she was not a member of our Fellowship, she knew how important AA was to me and supported me in my sobriety. For a guy who usually went to a meeting every day, there was a three-week period when I could not go to any. But I was where I was supposed to be, doing what I was supposed to be doing, caring for my spouse. I called people in the program in order to stay connected, and read an article in the Grapevine when I had a moment to spare.
