Supermom

She took care of everyone else while alcohol took care of her

At the age of 19, I married my high school sweetheart, whom I shall refer to as John. Not long after we were married, while living in a one bedroom, one bath apartment in Irving, Texas, we made a trip to the neighborhood convenience store and bought a six-pack of beer using his fake ID. Had I known anything about alcoholism I would have known then what my future had in store for me. No longer was I insecure, homely or of average intelligence. Rather, I had all those qualities that the “popular” girls in high school had.
