Family history of alcoholism and the adolescent brain
Adolescents with a family history of alcoholism are at greater risk for developing alcohol use disorders than those with no such history. In a new study comparing brain activity, two areas of the brain—both of which are important for making good decisions in many contexts, and in regard to alcohol use—responded differently in youth with a family history of alcoholism.
