An AA discusses getting sober and getting remarried in sobriety

In June 1986, I put down the drink. To me it was divine intervention. Someone at work reached out to me, when I was drunk, and mirrored to me how bad my drinking had gotten from his point of view. There is no reason I listened that day except the intervention of a Higher Power in my life. My willingness to quit was paralleled with an equal unwillingness to ask for any help. I began "Patrick's Recovery Program," remaining abstinent from alcohol but not living a sober and spiritual life. The quality of my life continued to deteriorate. The discord between my wife and I deepened considerably.
