Saved at the Mall

One morning recently I woke up tasting, feeling, and even seeing in my mind’s eye, the large bottle of gin I was planning to buy and drink. It was as if it were there in front of me. Terrified, I called my sponsor who was 3,000 miles away on vacation. Luckily, she had her cell phone turned on. My voice was quivering. She calmed me down and told me to meet with someone in our home group as soon as possible and to keep in touch with her. Shaking from head to toe, I called one of the ladies from my meeting. Despite the early hour and her busy schedule, she came to my rescue and spent the next two hours with me. Later that morning, I was alone again. I was feeling stronger, but afraid to go home, so I drove to the local mall.
