We Open Up

He listens to stay and stays to feel the love

We recently had a great speaker at the meeting I chair. When I say great, I mean he had a horrible history filled with tragedy due to his drinking. But he had a funny way of describing it and ended with a very positive theme of recovery. I like listening to this kind of drunkalog. He showed how his alcoholism started as self-will run riot, coupled with denial and pain. It forced him to become willing to accept help unconditionally from a Higher Power, working through the people in AA. That’s how I got to AA, even though I hated the idea of ever attending a meeting, let alone becoming a member.
