Confronted at his dad's bar, a Navy man discovers the truth about his drinking

My mother was on her deathbed in 1995. I was in the Persian Gulf on an aircraft carrier when my sister, an RN, sent a Red Cross message for me to come home. It took me 28 hours and several airplane bottles of booze, but I made it to Mom’s bedside 24 hours before her passing. I got to spend some quality hungover time with her. My mom never got to see me sober.
