Love in the Valley

In a small town, a newcomer opens her home to help save lives—and a little gas

I live in a little town in a valley encircled by mountains. It’s a small and unassuming place where each of us must do all we can to help keep our town safe and running well. After 45 years of trying many different ways to avoid awareness of any ill conduct in my life and avoid personal responsibility, I finally came to the realization that the only way to heal from my alcoholism was to jump in full throttle and learn all I could about it. Heaven knows, all of my half measures had availed me nothing.
