Just a beginning

Pouring the bottle down the drain was great, but only the first step

During the last 18 months of my active alcoholism, I said to myself four times, “Once and for all, I’ll quit drinking. I really mean it this time.” Each time, I stopped for shorter and shorter periods of time. Finally, in the spring of 1990, I knew that my way of quitting wasn’t working. That’s when I reached out for help.
