My big fat sober wedding

Soggy flowers, black & blue bridesmaids, a blackout and an injured groom. Step Ten to the rescue!

No matter how much we may want things to go our way, sometimes God has other plans, and the best we can do is laugh at his idea of humor. On May 14, 2011, Tim and I became husband and wife; however, the days and hours leading to our big moment presented a series of obstacles. Until about a week before the wedding, all of the planning had seemed effortless, almost perfect in its flow. We had both wanted our wedding to be a memorable day—but we didn’t know just how unforgettable this event would be. Looking back, I’m amazed by how well we handled the many misfortunes that we encountered. I believe that the Tenth Step and God’s grace had everything to do with our tolerance.
