Decision on Route 10

One Christmas Eve, a newcomer was very glad he turned left instead of right

It was Christmas Eve 1990, and I was motoring up Route 10 in Morris County, N.J. after a disagreement with my ex-fiancée, Sandy. Twenty-one years later, I have no idea what the argument was even about. As I approached the light at Franklyn Road, I cringed as it turned red. Just my luck! I thought, something else not going my way. And to top it off, this was of those lights that take forever to change. Not fair!
