After a head injury, a woman with 24 years finds a different way to attend meetings -- and a whole new set of friends

With 24 years of sobriety, my life was filled with the kind of joy and freedom the Big Book talks about. The program had made my life whole. One of the fruits of recovery was my marriage. We had spent the afternoon at my mother-in-law’s 85th birthday celebration. Driving home, my partner and I chatted about the party. When the conversation paused, I began thinking about my work tasks for the upcoming Monday morning. Unfortunately, I never made it to work.
