After years of drunken hospital visits, a member finally returns for a much better reason

I awoke in a Vancouver hospital feeling groggy and sore. At first, I wasn’t sure why I was there or what had happened to me. I had definitely experienced this feeling of disorientation before. Many times in my past I had woken up feeling like this after suffering dislocations and broken limbs while in drunken blackouts. I had just gone out to have a few drinks to take the stress off and have a good time with friends, but I had overshot the mark and ended up in hospitals. But on this day, still feeling foggy, I wondered if I had had another slip and lost my 22 years of sobriety, because those old feelings of remorse and horror had briefly returned.
