What’s wrong with you?” That was my grandmother’s most often asked question, and I didn’t have an answer. I was born in Washington, D.C. in 1946. I grew up in the “big city” and loved the party life. I was told I had my first drink at the age of about 5. My parents had a house party and I drank some liquor on the coffee table, so much that they had to take me to the hospital emergency room, where I had my stomach pumped.
