My Answer for Grandma
As he slid deeper into his disease, someone he loved kept asking questions. Then one day he knew what to tell her
What’s wrong with you?” That was my grandmother’s most often asked question, and I didn’t have an answer. I was born in Washington, D.C. in 1946. I grew up in the “big city” and loved the party life. I was told I had my first drink at the age of about 5. My parents had a house party and I drank some liquor on the coffee table, so much that they had to take me to the hospital emergency room, where I had my stomach pumped.
