I'm OK to Drive

She found out the hard way how dead wrong she was

I woke up in a hospital room on July 6, 2010, and I had no idea how I’d gotten there. The throbbing ache in my head and the stale taste in my mouth left no doubt that I’d been out drinking … but why was I in the hospital? I lay there in a semi-panicked state, racking my brain for details from the night before. I remembered being at a friend’s backyard barbecue and having a glass of sangria, then another, and then another. A woman I’d just met had given me a bottle of white wine, so I had a glass of that too, and then another. I sat around a table talking to friends and then ... nothing. Oh dear God, I thought, did I drive?
