God as We Understand Him

I was at a meeting the other day—a spiritual meeting, as it turned out. One of the folks sharing talked about his belief in Jesus as his Higher Power. Well, I wouldn't have put it quite the way he did, but we are counseled to be tolerant, so I let him have his say. But when he went on to say that Christ died so that we could get sober—or as I heard it, so that I could get sober—I got up and left the room and the meeting.
