Early in sobriety, she took a trip that confirmed for her that the path of AA was the right one

In 2013, about seven months sober, I planned a solo vacation to St. Martin, an island in the French Caribbean. It was to be my spiritual walkabout. Things were off to a rocky start before I even left Nashville. I missed my flight on Saturday and would not be able to get on another flight until Sunday. That evening I went to dinner with women from my home group, who in their effort to make me feel better about missing my flight, offered that perhaps I missed my flight because I would be sitting next to my future husband on my flight the next day.
