Taking Shape

My daughter had a homework project this weekend for her art class. She is 15 and a sophomore in high school. The project was to design a shape for each member of her family, create a 3D paper image of that shape, then assemble them all together into a conglomerate "sculpture." She had been working on it for weeks in class, but she was struggling. As often happens with artists, she had an image in her head that she could not translate onto paper. Friday came with instructions from the teacher: Be prepared to turn in your project on Monday or take

a zero.
