Good Hair Day

I used to work as a waiter at a restaurant in our local mall. After my shifts, I'd drink at a bar at the other end of the mall with my hairdresser buddy. The guy's name was Ron, and we'd both drink to oblivion. We'd sometimes take "the party" across the street to another bar after ours closed for the night. I knew at the time that I was an alcoholic but I remember always thinking, Wow, Ron is really bad. He'd make rude comments to women, start arguments with people and get angry when the bartender would cut him off. We did this ritual for three years. Eventually I lost my job and Ron and I lost touch. I always assumed he probably drank himself to death or something worse.
