Praying for Coworkers

Thirty years ago, I made what I hope was my last “geographic.” It was a modest 10-mile transfer from one work site to another. It turned out to be just another in a long line of fresh starts that went bad, since I brought my alcoholism and all its inherent character defects along with me. I had an alcoholic girlfriend too. I helped her get into the local inpatient treatment center. But I kept drinking. I did make a few token appearances at AA meetings at a nearby clubhouse, but my alcoholism flourished on.
