A Prayer for Jim

The day he lost his way was the same day he discovered some words that opened up his heart

As a young boy, I received a wonderful religious training that gave me great comfort and a sense of purpose. At the same time, I craved recognition from others. I especially liked the Lenten season. I was allowed to go to services each morning and to come into classes late, where I would be allowed to eat breakfast while the other kids were already working. I’m not sure which made me feel better, my devotion or the attention I got because of it.
