Things My Mother Taught Me

An AA member deepens her faith in her Higher Power during her mother's illness

After being sober in AA for 17 years, I thought my faith in a Higher Power was reasonably solid. I knew that Power could give me the willingness to do what it takes to get and stay sober. I was taught that my spiritual life should be ever-evolving, expanding and changing in order for me to live a happy, sober life. However, the thought of a loving supreme being who was truly concerned with my everyday existence and contentment sounded wonderfully comforting, for those who could believe it.
