Something to Ease the Pain

For his diagnosis, he stayed close to his doctor. To stay sober, he got a new sponsee

My program was stagnant. I still attended a couple of meetings a week but I was not truly active in the Fellowship. I did minimal service work and hadn’t sponsored anyone in years. Almost entirely focused on worldly affairs, particularly the dollar, I had lost my connection to my Higher Power and any sense of that fourth dimension as well. Of course, I had that empty feeling that comes with this ego-driven state, as well as great dissatisfaction. I didn’t drink but I was unhappy. Nothing seemed right anymore.
