Dancing with Mom

Acting as though she loved the mother she couldn’t stand changed both lives forever

When I was 9 years old, I watched my father get electrocuted and die in a horrible thunderstorm. Daddy was my whole world, the very best part of life. He adored me and I adored him. His was the only unconditional love I knew. Anywhere I could go with him I went—on odd jobs, to the doctor and to the local bars. I believed he loved me more than anyone.
