A while back I was sitting in a Sunday morning meditation meeting at the Mississippi State AA Convention in Olive Branch, Mississippi. It was a nice meeting, very positive. The topic being discussed was the Eleventh Step Prayer in our Twelve Steps and Twelve Traditions. The book states that the author of the prayer was a man rated as a saint. Suddenly I was struck by the irony of this situation. Back in 1985, in the city where I got sober, I had a brush with that same saint, but that occasion wasn’t exactly positive.
